Travel is hard on watches because they move through bags, trays, hotel rooms, and changing environments. A little preparation prevents most problems.
Bring fewer watches
One watch on the wrist and one spare is enough for most trips. Fewer pieces mean less value to track and fewer opportunities for loss.
Use individual protection
Pack each watch in a padded pouch or a roll with separate compartments. Make sure bracelets cannot fold under the case and scratch the back. Do not place watches loose with chargers, keys, or jewelry.
Keep them with you
Valuable watches belong in carry-on luggage, not checked baggage. Keep service records, serial photos, and proof of ownership stored securely online.
Mind magnets and moisture
Keep mechanical watches away from magnetic clasps, speakers, and some charging accessories. After swimming, rinse a properly water-resistant watch with fresh water and dry the strap.
At the hotel
Use the room safe when appropriate and avoid leaving watches visible. Before departure, check drawers, the safe, the bedside table, and the bathroom.
Crossing borders
High-value watches may raise customs or insurance questions. Carry documentation and check the rules for your destination before traveling.
