A white day-date automatic in steel is the most useful watch shape there is, and it is usually the one you have to pay a lot for. This is the cheap way into it. The 100 m rating is the part that surprised me: most watches that look this smart are rated for rain and nothing else, and this one is not, even though the leather strap will still object to a swim. Buy it if you want one watch that works for the office, a wedding and a Saturday. Skip it if you want something with character, because the whole point of this dial is that it does not have any.
