Fit and Wear

49mm is at the top end of what a watch can be and still be worn rather than displayed. On a larger wrist it fills the space and looks deliberate; on a smaller one the case will sit over the edges and you will feel it against a cuff all day. It does not go under a slim shirt sleeve, so treat it as a weekend and short-sleeve watch. The leather softens after a few wears and takes the weight better than steel would. Being an automatic it winds as you move, and it will wind down if you leave it off for a couple of days, so give the crown a few turns before you put it on.

49mm is not a size, it is a decision. If your wrist is on the small side you already know this is not your watch, and no amount of strap swapping fixes that. Buy it for the one thing a skeleton this wide genuinely does better than a small one: you can follow the escapement with your naked eye while you are sitting in a meeting. That is a real pleasure and most open-dial watches at any price do not give it to you. Just be clear about what the 30 m rating means. Leather band, open dial, splashes only.
