Fit and Wear

At 42 mm wide and 14 mm thick this is a substantial watch, and the thickness is the price of an automatic movement with an open dial. It wears best on a medium to large wrist and under a loose cuff rather than a tight one. This one is not rated for water at all, so take it off before washing up, and give it a shake or a few turns of the crown if it has been sitting in a drawer.

Colin's Take

The open heart is the whole reason to buy this. A lot of watches at this price print something clever on the dial and call it mechanical; here there is an actual hole cut at 6 o'clock and an actual balance wheel swinging behind it, and you will catch yourself looking at it. Black dial with the silver case is the one I would take, because the Roman numerals and leather keep it dressy enough for an occasion while the aperture stops it being dull. Two honest warnings: 14 mm is thick, and there is no water rating whatsoever. If either of those is a problem, buy a quartz.
