Verdict: The original military strap, done properly — one continuous piece of nylon that threads under the watch, so the head cannot fall off if a spring bar lets go.

This is the strap the design everyone copies actually started as. It threads under the caseback rather than clipping to each lug, which is exactly why soldiers used it: lose a spring bar and the watch is still on your wrist. The trade-off is a second layer of nylon under the case, which sits a couple of millimetres higher. Some people hate that. I like it on a smaller watch — it fills out the wrist and it is the most secure way to wear anything you actually move around in. Note this style uses standard spring bars, not quick release.

Why We Carry It

Most cheap pass-through straps use thin webbing that frays at the buckle holes within a month. This one is a heavier weave with finished edges, and the hardware is brushed steel rather than the shiny plated stuff that scratches on day one. It is the cheapest way to completely change how a watch feels.
