FIDI FD121 Square Skeleton Automatic Watch 46mm

$129.00

The FIDI FD121 is a 46 mm square automatic that shows its mechanical movement through the front of the dial. Both versions run on a black silicone strap: a silver case with a silver skeleton dial, or a black case with a gold one.

Why It Stands Out

  • The skeleton dial is not a printed effect. You are looking straight at the movement doing the work, gears and all.
  • Square cases are rare at any price, and the shape alone sets it apart from the round watches everyone else is wearing.
  • Automatic mechanical, so it winds from the motion of your wrist and never asks for a battery.
  • A black silicone strap keeps a showy watch usable on an ordinary day, and it wipes clean instead of staining.
  • The two finishes have genuinely different personalities. Silver is the quiet one, black and gold is not.

Fit and Wear

A 46 mm square is a lot of watch, and it should be treated as one. A square case fills the flat top of the wrist rather than curving around it, so this wants a medium to large wrist and an open cuff. The silicone strap softens things and makes it wearable with jeans and a t-shirt, which is where an open dial like this looks best anyway. Choose silver for the quieter finish or black and gold for stronger contrast.

Colin's Take

Most skeleton watches at this price are pretending. There is a hole in the dial and something vaguely mechanical behind it, and that is the extent of the idea. This one is a real automatic in a real square case, which is a combination almost nobody makes any more. Buy the silver if you want to be able to wear it without a conversation about it. Buy the black and gold if the conversation is the point. Skip it entirely if you own one watch and need it to work with a suit, because a 46 mm square skeleton is never going to be the discreet option.
